VRWA Outdoor EXPO August 12-14, 2014
Once again VRWA hosted its outdoor Expo at the Augusta Expoland in Fishersville, VA. Attendees from all across the state came to take advantage of the training classes that gave them 7 CPE’s along with being able to see the latest in today’s technology from our vendors. We had over 26 vendors showing their equipment, etc. and several provided us with live demonstrations. Time was also set aside for “team building” activities such as a backhoe competition, water meter toss, corn hole, horseshoes and ended with a water tapping contest. One thing for sure these guys are serious when it comes to pitching horseshoes, to corn hole to water tapping. Speaking of the water tapping contest, first place team of Roland Bega and William Roach set a VRWA State Tapping Record of 2 minutes and 4 seconds. Congratulations to all our winners and players. This year we added the “Utility Truck” contest. It was based on utility emblem, use of QOT logo, cleanliness, accessory equipment, safety equipment, techno gadgets and green technology. Being the first, we only had two entries in which City of Waynesboro took home the bragging rights. Hopefully next year there will be more interest. We shout out a very special “Thank You” to Southern Corrosion for their donation of a Grizzly 300 ATV. This year was the first time to raffle off an ATV and with the help of Southern Corrosion we were able to put extra excitement into the Expo. With that said we congratulate Mark Fendig of Lynchburg winner of the ATV.
