DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, performs difficult professional and administrative work planning, designing and inspection of engineering for water and sewer, stormwater transportation construction projects in the County; provides professional engineering services; does related work and as required.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is inteded to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class.  The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.


1. Planning, organizing and directing the design and construction of capital improvement projects; ensuring compliance with County utility and stormwater development policies, rules and regulations

2. Acts as Contract Administrator for infrastructure projects

3. Reviews subdivision and site plans for utility extensions for compliance with codes, regulations and design; conducts inspections;

4. Develop and revise utility ordinances as needed

5. Develop and administer a stormwater management ordinance

6. Provides technical engineering expertise to other departments as needed

7. Drafts and reviews contract additions and changes

8. Meets with local and state officials, contractors, developers and engineers as needed; responds to citizen inquiries

9. Designs and plans for replacement water lines and pump stations; inspects drainage concerns according to complaints; Monitors changing regulations in the areas of utilities and engineering

10. Prepares cost estimates as requested

11. Obtains easements and right of way for utility extensions


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering and extensive (approximately ten (10) years) civil engineering experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer. May require possession of or ability to obtain water and wastewater operator’s license.

ADA REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination for depth perception. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors: Tasks may involve exposure to dust, fumes, dirt, chemicals, noise, vibrations, extreme cold, extreme heat, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.

 

 

SALARY RANGE:
Hourly: $28.91 - $44.80
Biweekly: $2,312.42 - $3,584.27
Monthly: $5,010.25 - $7,765.92
Annually: $60,123.00 - $93,191.00

Located in Rocky Gap, VA and founded in 1975, American Mine Research, Inc. is a leader in monitoring and controls electronics for the mining, aggregates and water and wastewater industries.  The company manufactures its own line of unique products for the mining industry and integrates off-the-shelf hardware, software and instrumentation for the aggregates and water and wastewater industries.  AMR is looking for an experienced traveling salesperson for its growing water and wastewater automation division, AMR Aquamation.  Sales territory would include Western Virginia and North Carolina, Northeast Tennessee and Southern West Virginia.

Location:

Primary Qualifications/Experience:

 

·        Min. 2-year Associates Degree

o       Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree a plus

·        Self-starter

·        Team Player with Good Communications Skills

·        Experience selling to Water/Wastewater Industry following items a plus:

o       SCADA/Wireless Telemetry Systems,

o       PLC Control Panels,

o       4-20mA Instrumentation,

·        Environmental/Public Works Experience a plus

o       Cognizant of the constraints of municipal work i.e. project milestones, GC and subcontractor coordination, etc.
